Our beginnings......
Zip's Electric has been owned and operated by G. Wayne "Zip" Pharo since 1981. After working in the electrical business of others for 10 years, I decided to get my license and start my own business. I first got my electrical license in New Jersey in February of 1981. I called my company Zip's Electric because Zip is a nickname passed down to me, being a third generation 'Zip'.
I grew up and lived in Barnegat NJ, which borders the Barnegat Bay, across from the Barnegat Lighthouse, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Long Beach Island is an 18 mile long beach, with the lighthouse at the north end of it. LBI is lined with many homes on both the ocean and the bay side, with some of the nicest white sand beaches anywhere. I have wired, and rewired many unusual and beautiful large custom beach homes there, as well as on the mainland. Some of the commercial jobs which also occurred during that era of Zip's Electrical were restaurants, stores and professional buildings. Besides homes and businesses, I had the opportunity to wire our new church building. It was especially rewarding to oversee and participate in that from start to finish.
In July 1996 I moved my family to Franklin, Tennessee. I obtained my Tennessee Electrical contractors license in 1997, and built my business in Williamson and Davidson counties. I have had the opportunity to work for many wonderful people. Ofcourse living where we do, from time to time I have done work for some very notable names, celebs in music as well as NFL Titan players.
